“It is necessary for India to take a wider view of things as a result of the new world situation.” said Nehru, former president of the Indian National Congress, in an interview. “National isolation is doubtless dead. There is no doubt that the progressive forces of the world are aligned with the group represented by Russia. Britain, China and America.
“Despite Britain's treatment of India we must sympathise with the progressive forces and wish them well."
