MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

TWO MEN FOR TRIAL AUCKLAND, Monday In connection with the death of a Maori, David Repia, following a fight among a crowd of Maoris in Nelson Street on November 22. two men were charged in the Police Court with manslaughter and, alternatively, with assault causing actual bodily harm. The accused were Phillip Matthews, labourer, aged 22 (Mr R. E. Matthews), and Henry Matthews, labourer, aged 24 (Mr Sullivan). Both accused were committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail being allowed in each case of £250, with a surety of £SOO.
