SCENE AT BOXING

HENNEBERRY DISQUALIFIED WIN FOR RON RICHARDS MIDDLE=WEIGHT TITLE (United Tress Assn.—Elec. Tel. copyright) (Received Nov. 28, 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 28 In the Empire middle-weight title contest at the Stadium last night Ron Richards, 11.6, retained the title over Fred Henneberry, 11.45, who was disqualified in the thirteenth round for butting. There were many exciting moments and the referee showed great patience. The trouble began in the twelfth round, when bad feeling arose after the referee had intervened to draw the boxers apart. Although the referee stood between them they refused to break and the bell sounded while the boxers were ignoring the referee’s instructions. The seconds rushed into the ring and after much struggling the boxers were separated. Early in the thirteenth round Henneberry was cautioned for refusing to break. His head came up several times and the referee promptly declared Richards the winner. Henneberry declined to recognise the referee’s action and sought to continue. Henneberry was but a shadow of his past greatness and did not win a round.
