ADVISORY COMMITTEE LOCAL BODY REPRESENTATIVE THREE NAMES SUBMITTED A meeting of representatives of local bodies in the Waikato motor district was held in Hamilton yesterday in compliance with a request made by the Minister of National Service, who had asked for the names of three persons to enable him to make a selection of one to serve on a Waik.ito advisory committee, whose duty it will be to co-operate with the Vehicle Controller in the impressment of vehicles’ in the case of an emergency. The committee will consist of representative.: of the Army, the transport licensees, emergency corps, and any other organisation the Minister may decide. The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, presided, and others present were Messrs E. D. White (Matamata County), J. Buchanan (Matamata), S. C. B. Macky (Waipa County), L. t G. Armstrong (Te Awamutu), H. Johnstone (Raglan County), R. Eyre (Ngaruawahia), J. A. Sampson (Waikato County), Edgar James (Cambridge). and W. B. Pomeroy and W. L. Waddel (Hamilton). One Representative Inadequate

Messrs Macky and James expressed the opinion that in view of the vast area the district comprised, one representative was inadequate to cope with the great amount of work involved. Mr Caro pointed out that a great deal of work had already been done by postal officials and local committees associated with therm The Motor Vehicle Impressment* Emergency Regulations were designed to regularise the work already done by these committees. After some discussion it was decided to submit the following names to the Minister: Messrs W. B. Pomerojr, V. D. Edwards (Hamilton), G. Smith (Huntly). On the motion of Mr Macky it was resolved to recommend the Minister to authorise the appointment of advisory committees, to assist the main committee, in each Waikato centre.
