Congratulations Congratulations to Frank Greer and Arthur Dawson, former members of the Hamilton Operatic Society, on their appointment as lieutenants in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas. Hamilton Playbox A play which in production would require a stage set at three different levels was read by a cast of three at the Hamilton Playbox on Wednesday night. It was “The Old Ladies,” adapted by Rodney Ackland from the novel by Hugh Walpole. It is a story of mental persecution enacted among the occupants of three bed-sitting rooms.

Mavis Laurenson’s Revue The ‘,‘Ship-Ahoy Revue,” to be presented by Mavis Laurenson and her pupils in the Theatre Royal shortly, promises to be a great success. Several spectacular scenes are included in the programme, which features a number of solo, duo, and choruses by a company of 80. “Rebecca” at Auckland The strong drama, “Rebecca,” will be staged by the Athenaeum Dramatic Society in Auckland next month, on behalf of the patriotic funds. Victory Revue in Hamilton Music, mirth and melody is the keynote of the Victory Revue, to be presented in the Frankton Town Hall on Monday and Tuesday, September 22 and 23, to assist the funds of the Women’s Auxiliary Volunteer Corps. There will be comedy sketches, magic, ventriloquism, dancing and novelty instrumental items. The sensational illusion, “Sawing a Woman in Half,” will be presented. Paul Costello of radio fame will delight in instrumental numbers. New Zealand’s George Formby, “Jimae,” and Pauline Barnett, comedienne, will contribute much humour.
