PRESENTATION EVENING A combined function took place in the Gordonton Hall recently when congratulations were extended to a recent bride, Mrs Frank Herbert, formerly Miss Isabella Sharp, and Miss Sybil Cleland, whose marriage took place on Saturday. There was a large attendance, and the evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with humorous items by Mr D. Moore. Bright dance music was supplied by Mrs W. Mexted and Mr C. Hill was Master of Ceremonies. Gay splashes of colour were given to the stage by bowls of rhododendron and plum blossoms, and graceful vases of spring flowers added colour to the supper tables. Mesdames A. G. Bell, wearing a black and silver frock, and D. S. Riddell in a teal and diamante trimmed frock, were hostesses. Mrs Herbert was wearing white lace and Miss Cleland rose and white on a black ground. A bouquet of roses, camellias and japonica, and daffodils and toning spring flowers were handed to the guests-of-honour. On behalf of residents, Mr R. A. Williamson extended to Mr and Mrs Herbert, and Miss Cleland and Mr W. Belcher best wishes for success in the future, and presented each couple with a cheque. Musical honours were accorded them, after which Mr Belcher and Mr Herbert suitably responded.
