OPERATIONAL COMMANDS WAR OFFICE POLICY TWO POSTS CHANGED (Official Wireless) (Received May 10, 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, May 9 The War Office states that in pursuance of its policy that the younger generals should hold the principal operational commands, the following commands have been announced: Lieutenant-General L. Carr to be G.O.C. Eastern Command in succession to Lieutenant-General Sir G. C. Williams, and LieutenantGeneral A. F. N. Thorne to be in command of the Scottish Command in succession to Lieutenant-General R. H. Carrington.
