SHIPPING LOSSES
106 VESSELS SUNK FIGURES FOR MONTH OF APRIL (Omcial Wireless) (Received May 10, 2 p.m.) RUGBY. May 9 In view of the various statements made from Berlin and other sources the Ministry of Information has issued the following figures of mercantile losses due to enemy action during April. The British lost 60 ships of 293,089 tons while 43 Allied ships totalling 189,473 tons and three neutral ships totalling 5562 tons, a grand total of 106 ships and 488,124 to-ns were sank. These figures show little improvement on the figures for previous months but less were sunk in the Atlantic and more in the Mediterranean.
