WIN THE WAR
BRITAIN’S FIRST AIM NEW COMITY OF NATIONS VISCOUNT HALIFAX SPEAKS United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, May 9 The British Ambassador to the United States, Viscount Halifax, speaking at Chicago last night, said there were three aims to be achieved by a new comity of nations. Lord Halifax said the first was a system of security which would ensure international stability; the second, a system of economic collaboration among the free peoples of the world; and the third, a system of ordered change in the relationship among States, which would restore confidence in the integrity of the world of nations. If this must be, he continued, the peoples of the British Commonwealth of Nations and the United States must be joined with all their youth, enthusiasm and strength. But Britain’s first aim was to win the war. No peace that could be a real peace could be made with Hitler and his Huns. In an interview earlier, Lord Halifax said that the Allies had made a mistake in the Great War in not marching to Berlin. This war included attacks on the Germans. They would get fed up before Britain did. Lord Halifax also spoke of Britain’s need of supplies. “How you get them there is your problem,” he added.
