RESERVIST FINED £lO EMPLOYER ALSO PENALISED The second case to be heard in Hamilton of the prosecution of a reservist who had failed to enrol was conducted jn the Magistrate’s Court, today. Oscar Noel Thomas Neville, labourer, of Hamilton, appeared before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M. Neville’s employer, William Bennett Young, builder, of Hamilton East, was charged with employing a person who had failed to enrol. Both defendants, who were not represented by counsel, entered pleas of guilty. Employed Previously Neville had been employed by Young previously, said SeniorSergeant A. G. McHugh. When he resumed in November last, however, Young failed to take the necessary steps to see that the young man was registered for military service. Under the terms of the Act Neville was liable to a fine of £IOO or 12 months’ imprisonment. In Hastings recently an offender had been sentenced to three days’ imprisonment, while in Whangarei a sentence of three months’ had been entered. In several other cases fines of £lO had been imposed. Neville was fined £lO and Young £5.
