VERDICT AT INQUEST (Special to Times’! TF: AROHA. Thursday A verdict of accidental death caused when she Tell out of her father's motorcar at Mangaiti on April 19 was returned by the district coroner, Mr G. Hedge, at the inquest into the death or a three-year-old girl. Patricia Dawn Waldron, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. J. Waldron, or Ngatea. Medical evidence was given to the effect that the child was killed instantaneously. CIVIC FAREWELL HEADMASTER LEAVES A civic farewell was tendered Mr and Mrs F. A. Mason at the Te Aroha District ' High School yesterday arternoon. Mr Mason, who has been headmaster at the school Tor the past 4 4 years, is retiring and is leaving the district. The Mayor. Mr R. Coulter, on behair or the citizen* and parent* or Te Aroha, paid a warm tribute to Mr Mason’s popularity and ability. He wished him good health and happiness for the future. Other -speaker* were Mr J. E. Wild, chairman <<r the school committee, Mr W. C. Kennedy, chairman of the piako County Council, Rev. L. A. Brook*, and Father Docherty. The head prefect. Alan Nitz. expressed the regret of the .pupils at Mr Mason’s departure and presented him with two ramp chairs and a camp bed on their benalf. Mr Wild presented Mrs Mason and Master Robin Mason with a fountain pen each and Mr Mason with a travelling rug from the parents and the school commitMr Mason thanked the pupils, parents and the committee for the kindly things that had been said and for the gifts, which he deeply appreciated. Me expressed ; his regret at leaving the school and said jhe would always follow’ with great interest the progress or the school and the pupils. Successor Appointed The appointment of Mr J. J. McGulgan, or the Geraldine District High School, as the headmaster of the Te Aroha District High School, in succession to Mr F. A. Mason wa* announced yesterday by the Auckland Educational Board.
