MASTER BUILDERS

HAMILTON ASSOCIATION The extent to which the war had affected the building industry was discussed at the annual meeting of the Hamilton Master Builders’ Association, when the president, Mr W. H. Short, presided. Members were requested to make the best of the position regarding restricted supplies of materials and labour. It was pointed out that many of the members were in the National Reserve, the Home Guard and other organisations. However, it was desirable that they should co-operate with Mr W. B. Young who was in charge of the unit to be organised for demolition and other work, should the emergency arise either through earthquakes or the war.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr F. G. Church; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Lovell and D. C. Street; executive, Messrs Pryor (Te Awamutu), Schioler (Matamata); Bright (Cambridge), Lewis, Young, Stapleton, Short and Minchin (Hamilton); auditors, Messrs Murphy and Curling.

It was recommended to the executive that in view of the large country membership the name of the association should be changed from Hamilton to Waikato.
