FAT STOCK SALES PRICES REPORTED FIRM COMPETITION' STEADY (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Thursday Competition was steady at the weekly fat stock sale at Westfield yesterday. Prices equalled late rates in most cases. o.x beef brought late rates, although the best price for an extra heavy prime steer was lus lower at £1 i ii>s (3d. The top price for cows and heifers improved from £1 u 2s Gd last week to £ll 15s yesterday. Prime wethers brought up to £ l 10s 3d, an increase of Is 3d. and the best price fur prime ewes fell from £1 is to lSs Od. V alues for unfinished wethers and ewes decreased by Is. Prices for lambs remained Hilly firm, the top price for prime lambs improving from £1 8s to £1 9s 3d.
