STATE HOUSES
OVER 10,000 OCCUPIED 4500 MEN EMPLOYED (Bv Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday The Minister of Housing, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, announced today that over 10,000 State houses were now completed and occupied. Up till February 21 of this year tenders had been called for a total of 13,778 houses and of this number 13,278 tenders had been let or the houses erected. A total of 10,106 State houses were now occupied by tenants. The number of men now employed on State houses was about 4500, compared with about 6000 last June, the reduction being chiefly attributable to war service.
