ANOTHER FIRE
AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY (By Ttlegrapli. —Special to Times) • AUCKLAND, Friday Fire which broke out in a small workshop at the back of the third, or | top floor of the head office of the ! Auckland Gas Company at 9.15 last 1 night threatened to cause serious damage but excellent work by the fire brigade restricted the damage. The fire proved difficult of access and four fire engines scattered around the side streets in an attempt ; to reach the seat of the fire. One hose was taken through the front door and by a circuitous route up the : stairs. Other hoses were played on the fire from adjoining buildings. The extent of the damage is not known. EXTENSIVE LOSS NEWMARKET FIRE (By Telegraph.—special to Time*) AUCKLAND, Friday The opinion that the total damage
to the Newmarket factory of the Dominion Lead Mills yesterday morning may amount to £20,000 has been expressed by the manager, Mr L. G. Culpan. He stated that difficulty may be experienced hi replacing the valuable electrical plant and machinery that had been damaged.
