TRIBUTE TO WORK
DIRECTOR OF PUBLICITY (By Telegraph.—4*ress Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday Commenting on the work of the Director of Publicity, Mr J. T. Paul, the president of the New Zealand Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, Mr C. W. Earle, said he would like again to express appreciation of the manner in which the director had carried out his duties as affecting the daily newspapers of the Dominion. Mr Paul attended the recent conference of newspaper proprietors at Rotorua and a number of matters relating to the censorship of news was then discussed and opinions and suggestions of material value were exchanged. It would be expecting too much to suggest that there was complete agreement on all the issues raised, but it was freely conceded that Mr Paul was carrying out a difficult task with a minimum of inconvenience to the newspapers and that his practical knowledge of newspaper production and his helpful attitude at all times had assisted to promote an admirable spirit of co-operation between the censorship department and the newspapers.
