RAIN MARS WORK GAY ROSETTE—GLENBEVAN NGAWIRI OVER FOUR (By ‘‘ Martian ”) | Unpleasant conditions obtained at I Te Rapa this morning when all fast work was carried out in steady rain. The course proper, 15ft out from the rails, was available and though fast early became slower as the morning progressed. The best effort of the morning was that of Gay Rosette and Glenbevan over six furlongs, while Ngawiri also shaped well over half-a-mile. Foxsen, Acreman and Panoni were among the first to work and though I they were sprinted it was impossible to pick up the pegs owing to the I ram. ' Later as the rain eased Trilliarch (Meynell) and Foxmint (McKenzie) finished clear of Black Musk j(w inaer) over six funongs in l.id 1-5. the initial half-mile being run ,in 51 l-ss. Black Musk appeared to sup going out of the straight and uropped right back. The best effort of the morning was that of Gay Rosette (Ikisor) land Glenbevan (Brown), who after run.ning their first half-mile in 49«1-5s and five furlongs in 1.2, got to the 1 end of six in 1.16 1-5. It was a smart y effort on the part of both horses, who are in splendid order for pending engagements. Kilberis Resumes Kilberis, a new recruit to the stable of J. H. Muir, worked steadily over a round. He is bearing a robust and healthy appearance and is in excellent fettle for entering on a further preparation. Ngawiri (Ensor) ran to the halfmile in 50is. She looks welL Successful (McLaughlin) was shading Inness Lad (C. B. Goulsbro) at the completion of five furlongs in I. 1-5, the first half-mile in 525. Kingcraft (McLaughlin), assisted over the first three furlongs by the two-year-old Sir Inness (C. B. Goulsbro), got to the end of five furlongs in 1.8 2-5, the first three furlongs occupying 39 l-5s and the half-mile 54. H. Long has been engaged to ride Orate, Goldren Survey, Vitement, Barrister and Prince Uauis in the Pukekohe engagements. Dinky Di, who was taken over by J. F. Tutchen after the first day at Te Aroha, was among those to be allotted useful pace work. Brazilian finished well clear of Landsman at the conclusion or live furlongs in 1.2 4-5. the last half-mile taking 4-0 2-ss. Although -beaten, landsman shaped very creditably for a maiden.
