WOMEN FOR MALAYA

BAN ON ENTRY IMPOSED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday European women and children who do not normally reside in Malaya will not be permitted to enter the colony. It was officially announced this evening that wives and children of men resident or employed in Malaya will receive permits from the immigration officer at Singapore. Male Europeans under 18 years, unless they are the sons of people normally resident or employed there, come under the ban. These restrictions do not apply to through or transit passengers, provided they stay no longer than 14 days in Malaya. The effect of these regulations, according to the Department of Internal Affairs, is that women and children from New Zealand wishing to enter Malaya must obtain written nr telegraphic authority from the immigration officer at Singapore.
