SPECIAL POLICE
DOMINION APPEAL PICKED MEN REQUIRED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The announcement that the Government had made a special appeal for the ranks of the emergency police to be filled as soon as possible was made by the Mayor, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, who added that the preservation of the lives of citizens and their homes and property was the reason for the establishment of the Emergency Precautionary Scheme. In Wellington a special police force of 600 lit and reliable men was need to. ensure thig and they must be picked men. Their main duties would be the prevention of pillage, traffic control, prevention of panic and the maintenance of law and order.
