BALKAN CRISIS
TURKEY'S POSITION WILL FULFIL PROMISES BRITISH MISSION’S VISIT (Offioial Wireless) (Received Feb. 26, 3.15 p.m.) & RUGBY, Feb. 25 It is announced that the Turkish Ambassador to the United States of America informed Mr Sumner Welles that Turkey was prepared to fulfil her promises to Greece and Britain. He added that he thought the position in the Balkans was very critical. Mr Anthony Eden, British Foreign Secretary, and General Sir John Dill, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, have arrived In Turkey. It is understood in authoritative circles that as they were in Egypt it was considered opportune by the British and Turkish Governments that they should proceed to Ankara to discuss matters of common interest to both Governments.
