WATERFRONT STOPPAGE
CONFERENCE SCCCEEDS (By Telegraph.— Press Association) TIMARU, Tuesday As a protest against the employment of nine non-union labourers, the watersiders at Timaru ceased work on three coastal vessels for an hour this evening. The protest was due particularly to the genera] scarcity of w’ork at Timaru owing to war conditions. All the union men were engaged today, but they considered unfair the employment of non-unionists. Aftei a conference with the shipping companies work was resumed, the nonunionists also continuing.
