PIG PRODUCTION
EFFORTS IN' WAIKATO Waikato pig producers have responded well to Britain’s appeal for increased production, recent killing figures of baconers and porkers emphasising the extent of their response. Britain needs more bacon from the Dominion, and the Waikato district, in common with others, is planning to produce even greater quantities of pig meat. Preparations are well in hand for another increase next season, and first-class breeding stock will be in demand. An excellent opportunity will be given producers tomorrow when Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company will hold a special pig sale at the Claudelands Showgrounds. Some 400 pigs will be on offer, the firstclass entry including 120 service boars and 150 selected grade maiden sows. The vendors include most of Waikato’s most prominent breeders.
