Enticing: Escaped Monkeys

The two monkeys which escaped from the Wellington Zoo 11 days ago are still at liberty. Their recapture, however, now appears imminent. By carefully setting out food, they have been enticed down to an open cage in a nearby garden, and they are now coming and going freely in and out of the cage. It is only a matter of choosing the judicious moment to release the door of the cage and trap them. An additional factor in giving them confidence has been the placing at hand as a decoy of a pet monkey which is used to having the freedom of a chain instead of being caged. The Railways Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements and excursion fares in connection with the Franklin Racing Club’s meeting at Pukekohe next Saturday.

Every day now a day nearer the end of Hooker and Kingston’s sale, which positively ends on Saturday of this week. This week, however, will be a spectacular week of pricings throughout the store. Read the firm’s big advertisements each night, for every item of summer fashion goods have got to quit the showroom. Coats, frocks, blouses, etc., this week all priced at 4s lid, 5s lid, 6s lid, and, last, black silk coats up to £5 10s each are going out for 39s 6d. All round the store the last few days these give-away prices prevail. Shop this week while the sale lasts, you'll certainly get the biggest bargain you’ve ever had.** _
