STOCK AT FRANKTON

INCREASED ENTRIES VALUES FOR FAT SHEEP Very heavy entries were yarded in all sections at the weekly Frankton Stock Sale yesterday, and throughout, a very firm .sale was experienced, with late rates maintained and in some cases, bettered. An exceptionally heavy offering- of ox beef met with a ready demand and whilst last week’s top price of £lO iOs was not equalled the enquiry was quite as keen and vendors paid to £lO 5s rot- extra heavy bullocks. Prime medium-weights realised from £ll 15s to £l2 10s, while the small and unfinished sorts made from £8 10s to £9 15s. The demand Tor a large penning of cows and heifers was not as keen as in recent weeks and prices tended to ease a shade. Heavy fat cattle made from £9 10s to £lO ss, while for prime medium cows and heifers from £8 5s to £9 7s 0d was paid. A few runners attracted fairly keen interest realising to £8 15s. Calves were also on offer in small numbers. Market of Fat Sheep In comparison with Tecent weeks the yarding of Tat sheep was a considerably increased one and prices were generally firmer for both wethers and ewes. Extra ! prime wethers realised as much as 2 Bs, • whereas last Tuesday’s highest price was ? 20s 3d. Fat wethers made 6d a head more this week than last but the demand Tor ' the unfinished sorts was on a par with I last sale. An ever bigger price increase ( was recorded for ewes, the top price of 18S od, Tor a pen of young ewes being 4s fid more than the highest price last Tuesday. A line or 2-ths also made ißs I fid. Unfinished ewes made from 9s to 12s | fid. As in the other sections a heavy entry of pigs was auctioned, and sold firmly. Te Kowhal, sold at 275, while offerings from Mr N. K. Taylor, Gordonton, made 265, Mr C. Bridge, Woodleigh, 26s 9d, and 26s 6d, and Mr J. F. Richardson, Te Akau, 2 6s 9d.
