BOXING PROMOTION
STRICKLAND IN IGNORANCE , (Dy Telegraph.—.press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday A Sydney cable regarding the Strickland-Richards boxing bout was i eferred to Strickland, who said he and his manager, Mr Crowley, had made all arrangements to leave Tor Sydney in time Tor the bout with Richards under Mr C. Lucas’ promotion on February 24. Final word from Mr Lucas, also transportation, was still awaited. Strickland said he had not heard previously of Richard’s refusal to fight him, or of the latter’s retirement. He proposed cabling Mr Lucas today to ascertain the position. Strickland is at present training for the bout.
