LIGHTER SIDE OF WAR I NAZI ASKED FOR BEER (Times Air Mail Service.) LONDON, Aug. 18. I Here are some incidents of the ! raids, recorded in the Sunday DisP A Heinkel over South East England town dropped three bombs close to a building. In it lay the bodies of two German airmen awaiting burial. A London man arrived home to find his front door blown in. He turned the front door, took a letter from the letter box and read it in j the doorway! | The pilot of a Messerschmitt I forced down in a field near an inn i in a rural district jumped out of his machine and, running into some agricultural workers, threw up his arms and exclaimed in English, “ All right, all right, what about a pint of beer? ” He was taken to the public-house, given a pint, and handed over to the police. Two Germans climbed out of a machine. One said they hoped their bomb had not caused too much damage. Found in another downed bomber was a small United States flag meas- ! uring 12in. by 6in. I In a south-east town an air-raid ' warden solemnly submitted the iol--1 lowing official report: “ Damage ! caused to one vegetable marrow and ’ three runner beans.
