PATRIOTIC DANCE

SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED QUEEN PRESENTED Members of the women’s patriotic committee at Cambridge again entertained territorials, who are training at the military camp, when they organised another of the weekly dances in the Cambridge Town Hall on Saturday. The floor was crowded with dancers for whom the music was played by Bruce Hulme’s Boys’ Orchestra. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Cambridge Queen in the South Auckland Queen Carnival. In introducing Mrs Mer- < vyn Wells, the Mayor, Mr Edgar i James, emphasised the good fortune ! of the executive committee in secur- ■ ing the gracious assent of Mrs Wells when she was requested to lend her ; assistance in the capacity of Cambridge Queen. In a short reply, Mrs Wells acknowledged the prolonged greeting accorded her. The Mayoress, Mrs Edgar James, presented a dainty posy of lily of the valley to Mrs Wells, who was wearing a trained gown of amethyst velvet.
