He is now being trained by the former New Zealander, J. T. Jamieson, for whom he ha* registered two wins in two starts. Gold Salute lias 3.2 in the Caulfield Cup. which will be run next Saturday. Historian finished gamelv to beat True Flight Tor second. Both pleased their Caulfield Cup admirera. Freckles disappointed. Banksliaw ran moderately. Lucrative led nearly all the way to register one of the easiest wins in the history or the Caulfield Guineas from \varbird, who assisted with the pacemaking, and the fast-finiahing Velocity. The success 'of Lucrative strengthened the belief that he was unlucky in the Australian Derby. Wahbird and Velocity are both trained by S. Ferguson. Pandect, winner or the Australian Derby, finished well after a slow beginning. Tidal Wave was never dangerou-s. M. McGarten, who rode Lucrative. won the Guineas previously on Ammon Ra and Ajax. Rex Felt directed attention to Ins prospects in the Caulfield Cup by finishing strongly tu win the Herbert Power Handicap. L’Alglon, who was always well up, was second. The pacemaker, Early Bird, looked certain to win at the distance, but she weakened into third. Gladynev, after being well placed throughout, and was second at the distance, rroan where he was ridden out with the whip, weakened into fourth. His effort did not convey an encouraging view of his Caulfield Cup chance. Apostrophe came home well, but Wilson was a rank failure. Panka, \xdio Is owned and trained In Adelaide, gained a close decision in the Welter Handicap. High Title scored easily In the Debutant Stakes, Tor colt 3 and gelding*. He cost 250 guineas as a yearling. His trainer, F. Hoysted, won the race previously with Matinee and Lady Mauve. The time for the race 47is, Is a record for Australia. The little-fancied Primavera created a surprise by leading throughout in the Debutante Sr takes, for fllHe-s. Silver Llghit ran a game race. The winner is held on lease by Mr R. A. Stevens. RANDWICK PLATE

DABHING CAVALIER WINS FURTHER SUCCESS OF HOPE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 13 The standard of racing Tor the final day of the Australian Jockey Club’s Spring Carnival at Randwick yesterday was below that of recent years by reason of the poor fields and the transference to Melbourne of the most prominent performers, particularly those from New Zealand. One feature was the further success of the ten-year-old gelding Hope, who followed up Ills good win on Wednesday in the Sydney Handicap by scoring in the Waverley Handicap in which a popular candidate for the Melbourne Cup, Pantler, shaped poorly and ran unplaced. Yours Truly, who lost Ids position after leading the field to.the turn, came strongly at the finish for third. The Randwick Plate was a one-horse race, Dashing Cavalier winning easily. He tailed the field to the three-furlong post, where he opened up a gap of three lengths from Old Rowley and maintained it to the post.
