Copyright) NEW YORK, Oct. 12 The noted cowboy film actor Tom Mix has died as a result of a motorcar accident, states a message from Florence, Arizona. Apparently he lost control of the machine, which overturned and pinned him under the wreckage. Tom Mix was born in 1881 on his father’s cattle ranch in Texas. As a lad of 17 he fought ivi the SpanishAmerican war and was shot in the mouth. He also served during the Moro insurrection in the Philippines, and in China as a machine-gunner during the Boxer rebellion, being wounded.

Returning home in 1903, he was made deputy-Marsha! in Oklahama, and then a special revenue officer. In capturing two notorious bandits single-handed he was badly wounded.

He made his screen debut in 1914. He was a teetotaller and did not smoke either in private life or in any of his films.
