FINE FIELDS CARDED TWENTY=FOUR IN CUP SPRINT ATTRACTS TWENTY REVIEW OF PROSPECTS (Bv “Martian”) Large and well-balanced fields are carded for t'ne opening- day, tomorrow, or the Avondale Jockey Club’s spring- nieetIn?, and with nne weather on the aaj th" club should experience a most successful fixture. ELLERSLIE TRACKS SEBROF GALLOPS WELL ODTAA AND LLANDAFF PLEASE M ONE V SPIN NER IM PR O YIN G {By Telegraph.—Special to Times) _ AUCKLAND, Thursday Perfect conditions prevailed for the final gallops at Ellerslie this morning in connection with the Avondale Jockey Club's meeting. The No. J grass track was used : and the going was excellent. Among those ; to please were Sehrof. Declaim. Money- ! spinner. Phaleron, Royal Message, odtaa, Llundaff, Hex Maitland and Brazilian. Sebrof put up a smart effort, beating Golden Bonnett and Acre’s Beauty over three furlongs in 30 3-ss. Sebrof finished exceptionally well. Tiic two-year-old Declaim impressed more than Transmitter over a similar distance in 37 4-ss. Both these two-year-olds are well forward. Moneyspinner reeled off half a mile in 4 0 4-ss. He was assisted by Llandveyor, the pair running the last three furlongs In 36 3-ss. Moneyspinner should put up a good showing in his engagements at Avondale. Phaleron traversed four furlongs in 50 l-ss, the last three in 38 l-ss, beating Pertinax and Plueron. Phaleron was doing his work well over the final stages after getting an advantage at the start. Happicoat was easily beaten by Royal Message at the conclusion of five furlongs in i. 4 4-5. They covered the first two in 25 3-5 s and Royal Message came home very solidly. After cooling off, Royal Message was showing distinct signs of lameness. A fine effort over six rurlongs was credited to Odtaa, who finished several lengths ahead of Hot Shot in 1.10. The first three furlongs took 38 4-5 s and Odtaa Impressed, though he had a good deal the better of the weights. Llandaff Over Six t Llandaff was also sent six furlongs, which he accomplished In 1.19 3-5, the first three being covered in 39 l-ss. He was Inclined to loaf a bit toward the end.
