CAMBRIDGE RUGBY
SUSPENSION FOR ONE YEAR JUNIOR PLAYER’S OFFENCE The outcome of a junior player being ordered off the field at Victoria Square last Saturday was his suspension for one year by the management committee of the Cambridge Rugby Union at its meeting on Monday night. The president, Mr D. Bourke, presided over a good attendance of delegates. The Cambridge Referees’ Association reported the ordering off in a letter to the union, and the referee concerned, Mr C. Hadley, was in attendance. Although he was notified, there was no appearance of the player. The referee reported that during the course of the junior game the player concerned questioned his rulings on two occasions, when the referee penalised the player concerned for breaches of the rules. At half-time the referee sought the player to point out the rules to him, but the player became abusive and was then ordered to leave the field. This, at first, he refused to do, although he was asked to leave by his own team captain. Finally the referee had to seek Constable Soley’s assistance before the player would leave. The referee further stated that the player had used bad language to him. The committee took a serious view of the case and inflicted the penalty as stated. An amendment that the referee’s action be upheld and that the player be suspended until such time as he appeared before the committee was lost. Player Injured Mr A. Moore reported that in the fourth grade game on Saturday Gordon Brunskill suffered a broken right arm and was admitted to the Waikato Hospital. The matter of his insurance was left in the hands oi the emergency committee. Fixtures for Saturday The secretary reported that he had not heard from Maniapoto as to whether it would be coming to Cambridge next Saturday. In the event of its not coming (the secretary now reports that the visit is most doubtful) it was decided that the fixtures for Saturday be as follows.—Seniors: Hautapu v. Pukemoremore Maoris, Square, 2 p.m. (Mr C. Hadley). Cur-tain-raiser: Junior trial game, 1 p.m. (Mr J. MiUer). • Mr R. A. Hughes and the selector | were appointed managers of the j Boyce Cup team to travel to Te Awai mutu to play Waipa on Saturday.
