SURE PROGRESS
WISH FOR HAMILTON ENGLISH FIRMS’ PRAISES CENTENNIAL BROCHURE SENT Appreciative comment on the development of New Zealand, and particularly Hamilton, and also praise for the illustrated brochure on Hamilton which was produced by the Waikato Times recently to commemorate the centennial year, has been received from overseas. Copies of the booklet were forwarded to prominent firms in the United Kingdom by Messrs J. R. Fow, Limited, Hamilton, and replies acknowledging the book have come to hand. “News of any kind from New Zealand is always welcome,” stated a Brighouse firm. “It seems incredible that only 100 years have passed in the history of New Zealand and that your own town of Hamilton has been in existence 75 of those 100 years. It only goes to show what peaceful progress can achieve. It is almost imperceptible to those who live through it, and yet it is steady, solid and progressive. We wish you and yours every success in the next 75 years, and trust that the progress will be no less sure and certain, founded as i: is on freedom for all.”
Peaceful Side of World
“We may congratulate you upon the excellence of the production, the booklet is very interesting,” states a firm in Halifax, England. Another firm in London stated, after commenting favourably upon the booklet, that it almost wished, after looking through the pages of the brochure, that it was on New Zealand’s side of the world instead of in Europe, under present conditions. “We may, however, be permitted to hope that the present state of affairs will not last too long and that evenually happier conditions result from the present turmoil,” the firm stated. “We have perused the brochure with interest, and we wish your town generally and your firm in particular continued prosperity,” stated another firm. Writing from Kidderminster, the director of another English firm stated that he once passed through Hamilton, and, after seeing the brochure, he regretted he had not remained in the town to see its beauties. He was determined that should the opportunity again arise he would see Hamilton thoroughly.
