“MAJOR BARBARA”

BERNARD SHAW PLAY BROUGHT TO THE SCREEN Bernard Shaw’s play, “ Major Barbara,” which is being produced by Gabriel Pascal, has been on location at Dartington Hall, says a London paper. This model farm with progressive schools, sawmills and textile departments, which was used for social experiment, has adapted itself admirably for the scenes in the story in which Undershaft, the armament king, demonstrates to his dubious family that the people would benefit by the manufacture of arms. Local children and evacuees took part and loved the chance to appear before the camera. Andrew Osborn, who plays the role of Cusins, has been exempted from registration till the film is completed. Graduating from the Hull Repertory Co., Mr Osbom took charge of the Richmond Theatre and made a success of it, sending several of the plays performed there to the West End. Another actor temporarily released from war service is David Tree, who plays the role of Charles Lomax.,
