Lee (Democratic Labour—Grey Lynn) gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, whether he would introduce legislation to raise the family allowance wage qualification by 5 per cent, the amount of the increase in wages awarded by the Arbitration Court, as this increase, without subsequent amendment of the law, would have the effect of excluding a large number of families from receipt of family allowances, the total amount of wages in cash, but not in purchasing power, being the qualification.
