LOSS OF REBATE
TOTALISATOR TAXATION WAIKATO CLUB’S FINANCES Stakes distributed for the year amounted to £15,892 and Government taxation to £27,765, states the .annual report of the Waikato Racing Club. The increase in taxation was accounted for by the withdrawal by the Government of the 1 per cent, rebate on totalisator turnover, which had been allowed clubs for years. The committee regretted to have to record the deaths of four members, M. Taylor, and Messrs R. C. Clemow, P. J. Turney and R. T. Reid. Mr Reid had been a member of the committee for 12 years, and his services had always been available in the interests of the club. Mr F. R. Seddon and Mr A. Miller being the only nominees for the offices of president and vice-president respectively, and Messrs H. D. Caro, P. G. Harkness, W. T. C. Christie, O. M. Monckton, G. J. Peach and A. E. Sandford being the only nominees for the offices of six committeemen, they would be declared elected.
