MOST URGENT NEED

FIGHTING AEROPLANES ASSISTANCE FOR BRITAIN VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTIONS What is the British Empire’s greatest need today? Asked that question, a large majority of people would answer, "Fighting aeroplanes.” General recognition of the need is seen all over the Empire, where voluntary contributions are being made for the purchase of fighter planes. Speed is the essence of the contract in this case. Hundreds.of people are willing to contribute but have perhaps not been impressed with the need to hurry. The Government has allocated £IOO,OOO of sterling exchange for the purpose, and other districts in the Dominion are quickly claiming their share of that fund, which will probably soon be exhausted. And Britain needs fighters not next year or the year after, but now.

FUND EXCEEDS £BOO DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED Opened on Tuesday by the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, the fund for the provision of a fighter aeroplane for Great Britain has met a ready response. Receipts total more than £BOO. Donations are being received by the town clerk and at the Waikato Times Office. The following donations are acknowledged :
