DAFFODILS AT LAKE
FLOWERS ILLEGALLY PICKED “A host of golden daffodils,” Wordsworth’s famous words, well describe the thousands of bulbs blooming among the trees at the Hamilton Lake. There is no prettier sight in the town at present than these drifts of living yellow against the darker background of the green slopes. Unfortunately some people are not content with admiring them, but pick the blooms. This is an offence not only against the by-laws of the Hamilton Domain Board, but against the citizens of Hamilton who enjoy the beauty of the flowers. One offender has been caught already and the caretaker has been instructed to keep a close watch. Should any more offenders be discovered they will be dealt with severely. It is also hoped that members of the public will co-operate by immediately reporting anyone they notice interfering with these flowers.
