FANCY DRESS BALL A successful function took place at Pirongia before the school .breakup for the August recess. It was a children’s fancy dress ball held in the Memorial Hall in aid of school funds. The school children, under the baton of the headmaster, Mr F. White, sang a number of songs and performed some charming folk dances. Both performances delighted a very large audience and reflected great credit upon the teachers. After the children’s programme was concluded, the adults enjoyed old-time dancing. Mr White, in addressing the gathering later in the evening, mentioned that the funds had benefited to the extent of £l4 and part of that amount would go to the purchase of a gramophone attachment for the school radio set which was much needed. Mr Milgate, chairman of the school committee, endorsed his remarks.
