Copyright) (Received August 16, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15 Three raiders which were shot down over north-east England dropped a large number of bombs, causing much damage to houses, watermains, telegraph and electric wires, and roads. Some fires resulted. A raider crashed near a village. After eight high explosive bombs, fifty incendiary bombs were dropped. Five high explosives fell in another village. Machine-gun bullets hit a bus, slightly injuring passengers. A lone raider over a north-east seaside town dropped four bombs, killing two children and fracturing a workman’s leg. The raider then swooped down, using its machine-gun and causing casualties. Spitfires engaged the bombers. Five of the crew from one northeast raider which crashed landed. One was sent to hospital.
