MUCH DAMAGE IN BRITAIN AIRPORTS AND SHIPPING (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 16, 1 p.m.) BERLIN, August 15 The German news agency states: Dive-bombers raided the Hawkinge airport west of Dover, setting fire to several hangars and destroying eleven fighters which went up to meet the raiders. Two German planes are missing. Raiders also damaged three hangars and runways at the Lympne airport. German bombers raided aerodromes and convoys in the Moray Firth, successfully attacked the Kinross aerodrome, near Elgin, and set fire to an airport at Montrose. To-day we bombed anti-aircraft batteries at Aberdeen. Thirty-five Domiers rained a hail of bombs on the Vickers-Armstrong munition works at Hebburn and Newcastle, and hit several airports and hangars in Northumberland. The anti-aircraft fire was ineffective. All the raiders returned.
