SHIPPING LOSSES COMPARED NAZIS’ EXAGGERATED CLAIMS (United Press Assn. —Elee. Tel. Uopyrlglit) (Received August 15, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 13 The mercantile shipping losses in the week ended August 4 totalled 75,124 tons, ol which the British loss was 60,058 tons, compared with the German claim to have sunk 232,743 tons. The German and Italian losses to August 12 totalled 923.000 and 259.000 tons respectively; also 29,500 tons formerly neutral and now under enemy control. The British losses were slightly above the average.
