TE RAPA TRACKS

ACTIVITY RESTRICTED BLACK MUSK OVER SIX TOOLEY STREET HITS OUT (By “Martian”) The going on the course proper, about 25ft. out from the rails, was heavy at Te Rapa this morning when a rather restricted programme of fast work was accomplished. Nothing of outstanding note was recorded, and owing to the heav T y nature ot the track times were correspondingly slow. Gaine’s Choice (Winder), Etcetera (O. Mclnally) and Calshot were companions over a round in 2.21 2-5. Gaine’s Choice finished several lengths in front while Calshot, who drifted in the middle stages, shaped well in making up leeway over the last half-mile. Raceline (Meynell) worked at strong three-quarter pace to the seven-furlong post and came home strongly from there in 295. He is bearing a healthy appearance and should lack little on the score of condition when called upon to race again.

Black Musk (Gollop) was doing better than Gay Rosette (Ensor) and Hum a Song (Winder) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.26 4-5, the first half-mile occupying 57s Black Musk looks all the better for his race at Rotorua and can be expected to give a forward account of himself at the approaching Pakuranga Hunt fixture at Ellerslie next week.

Tooley Street—Requiem Tooley Street (Howard) and Requiem (Hain) were associated over six furlongs in 1.26£, running their first half-mile in 55 2-5 s and five furlongs in 1.11 1-5. Tooley Street is bearing an improved appearance and may soon be seen to advantage. Poutama (O. Mclnally) strode home the last quarter of his work in solid style, and appeared to be suited by the conditions. Forest Acre (Ensor) ran once round in 2.20. The Nightly three-year-old in the Seifert stable ran to the half-mile in 59s but was not extended. He is making good progress. Sieglinde (Brown) and Acute (Gollop) traversed five furlongs in 1.13 4-5, their initial half-mile occupying 58 l-ss. Sieglinde is bearing a healthy appearance and executed his work well. Cappy (Brown) negotiated a round in 2.21 1-5.
