A Slight Mistake
The habit—not altogether uncommon among customers in grocery stores—of sampling free of charge this, that and the other brought a surprise, and perhaps a lesson, to a young man who went into a Dunedin shop the other day to make a purchase. Espying on one of the counters what looked like an inviting and conveniently-sized piece of cheese, he popped it into his mouth, only to find when he closed his teeth on it that he was trying out a piece of laundry soap. The sequel, records the Otago Daily Times, was the hurried purchase and consumption of a bar of chocolate to remove the taste.
