CITRUS GROWERS
COMMITTEE TO RESIGN HOPELESS FINANCIAL STATE (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The committee of the Auckland Citrus Growers’ Association has announced its intention of resigning at a general meeting of producers to be held early next month. The following resolution was carried at a meeting of large lemon growers and was subsequently endorsed by the committee of the association:—“That in view of the hopeless financial position of citrus growers today and the fact that growers are unable to maintain their orchards in production and have in some cases to seek work elsewhere as wage-earners, this meeting requests a public inquiry into the citrus industry, with particular reference to the wide disparity in the price paid by the Government to growers and the retail price to consumers.”
