MINISTER’S TRIBUTE LIFELONG FRIENDS LOST (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 14, 3.15 p.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 13 The Prime Minister, Mr Mackenzie King, sent the sympathy of himself and the Cabinet in connection with the Australian air crash. He recalled that Mr Fairbairn was sworn in at Ottawa. WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 Mr R. Casey, Australian Minister, referring to the air crash, said: “ This is a great disaster for Australia and for me personally. These men were all my lifelong friends. Their leadership, knowledge and experience will be very hard to replace. They will be mourned as men and servants of Australia.”
