WOMEN’S DIVISION

KARAKARIKI BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Karakariki branch of the Women’s Division was held recently. Mrs Hastie, vice-president, asked members to stand in silence as a gesture of sympathy to the president, Mrs Magner, in the loss of her mother and also for the late Mrs Wells’ husband. The meeting took the form of a working afternoon. A bundle of clothes for refugees was divided among the members for mending and renovating. A competition was held, Mrs Hart being the winner. Mrs Magner asked Mrs Gardner, who will shortly be leaving the district, to accept, on behalf of the members, an afternoon tea cloth as a small token of remembrance. Mrs Gardner suitably replied.
