PROTEST AGAINST FIELD GOAL ROUGH PLAY ALLEGED (Special to Times) TE ’a . .<*, Tuesday At the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Sub-union the manager of the Waikeria team entered u protest against the awarding of a held goal to Rovers on July s>7 on the ground that the ball had touched a Waikeria player before crossing the bar. It was decided to acknowledge the protest but to advise Waikeria that as Rule 3 1 had not been observed consideration could not be given to the protest. Mr R. C. Thompson voted against the resolution. The referee in the Rovers v. Waikeria match, Mr R. 11. Anibal, reported that he had ordered D. Fitzgerald off for using obscene language to him and that he had twice warned Fitzgerald for rough play. Consideration was deferred pending apappearance of the alleged offender, who is automatically suspended in the meantime.
In connection with the same match, the manager of the Waikeria team complained that the play had been unnecessarily rough In the Rovers v. Waikeria match. It was decided to call the attention of the Referees’ Association to the matter and ask that adequate steps be taken to check the tendency. Permission was given for the Junior representatives to play Maniapoto juniors at Te Kuiti next Saturday. The chairman (Mr W. Parish) reported that Old Boys juniors had been penalised through the action or C. E. Ferguson in not advising the club that he was a League player and taking part in two matches without disclosing his status. It was decided to report the player to the Waikato Union.
The Primary Schools Union was voted £4 4s towards the cost or sending a team to compete in the Roller Mills Shield competition.
