NEW ZEALAND TROOPS BROADCAST SUMMARY THE MEN ENTHUSIASTIC (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright} (Received August 6, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 5 New Zealand troops in England are enthusiastic over the first ten-minute broadcast news from home, which the British Broadcasting Corporation plans to make a fortnightly feature. Mr Darcy Creswell, of Christchurch. read the bulletin, which included an outline of new legislation, particularly affecting the services, a summary of national finance, details of land improvement schemes, recruitment and home defence measures, numerous items of domestic news, even the result of a notorious murder trial; also a commendable summary of football results. The broadcasting officials are of opinion that this week was the best Dominion news service so far broadcast. The Government publicity officer in London, Mr H. T. B. Drew, was responsible for its compilation, which was based on a Government cable of 300 words, amplified by publicity material from the Prime Minister’s office sent by air mail.
