SOLDIERS SENTENCED
CAMP COURTS-MARTIAL PERIODS OF DETENTION The findings of two courtsmartial which, were held at the Papakura mobilisation camp last Monday have been confirmed by Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, officer commanding the northern military district, and promulgated. Gunner H. A. Headman, 7th AntiTank Regiment, was found guilty of ] being absent without leave from April 28 to May 8, escaping from arrest on May 16, being absent without leave from May 16 to June 28, and losing by neglect equipment, clothing and regimental necessaries valued at £2 16s 6d. The Court sentenced him to 90 days’ detention without pay and ordered, that £2 16s 6d be stopped from further pay. In the case of Private Thomas Lineen, 24th (Auckland) Battalion, who was charged with deserting from His Majesty’s Forces in that he absented himself from May 23 until he was apprehended on July 14, the Court found him not guilty of desertion, but guilty of being absent without leave, and sentenced him to 28 days’ detention, i
