R. H. GLADING’S FORM GOLF QUARTER-FINALS HAMILTON CLUB SERIES With six birdies and 12 bogeys figuring on his card, R. H. Glading, of Hamilton, the North Island amateur, golf champion, played a fine round of 68 at St. Andrews links on Saturday. It was the best round Glading has played for some time and he again appears to be at the peak of his form. Glading has been worrying the handicapper for a season or so now and Saturday’s fine round caused his handicap to be altered to plus 2. Glading went out in 35 and returned in two under that figure in playing his round of 68. The card read as follows: Out: 3, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 5, 4, 4—35. In: 2,4, 4,4, 3,4, 4,4, 4—33. The round was the highlight of Saturday's play, when the quarterfinals of the Captain’s Trophy and the Vice-Captain’s Trophy competitions were played and also a bogey ! match, in which Glading was a com--1 petitor. Ideal conditions prevailed. Results:—

Captain’s Trophy: C. C. Ladner beat F. G. Wooller 6 and 5, E. Etheridge beat R. AfifcCaw 3 and 2. G. Marriott beat C. B. Wake 6 and 4, M. A. Kelly beat -A. *Marcroft, 2 up. Vice-Captairi’s Trophy: H. P. Clarke heat J. (M. Horton 5 and 3, S. M. Mayes beat .j. Gamble 3 and 2, C. Sutcliffe beat F- j. Mathers 3 and 2, N. Cajin beat M. jvi. Frost 4 and 2. Glading won th ? bogey match, five up. The next best cards were R. G. Brownless 2 up, G g Evans and A. Small 1 up, and L. j Mark all square. Etheridge also placed a good round on Saturday with a *core o> 73.
